Basak Kus is Associate Professor of Government at Wesleyan University. Her areas of scholarship and teaching include political sociology, political economy, and sociology of law.
Professor Kus has studied, conducted research, and taught in the US, Europe, and the Middle East. She completed her undergraduate studies at Bogazici University (Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences) in Istanbul, and obtained her PhD in Sociology from the University of California-Berkeley.
Prior to joining Wesleyan, Professor Kus held postdoctoral fellowships at Princeton’s Niehaus Center for Globalization and Governance and Yale’s MacMillan Center, and taught public policy, and political economy at University College Dublin in Ireland. She serves on the Editorial Board of Socio-Economic Review.
