Basak Kus is Associate Professor of Government at Wesleyan University. Her areas of scholarship and teaching include political sociology, political economy, and sociology of law.

Professor Kus has studied, conducted research, and taught in the US, Europe, and the Middle East. She completed her undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Bogazici University in Istanbul, and obtained her PhD in Sociology from the University of California-Berkeley.

Prior to joining Wesleyan, Professor Kus held postdoctoral fellowships at Princeton’s Niehaus Center and Yale’s MacMillan Center, and taught at University College Dublin in Ireland.
