She earned her Ph.D. from UC Berkeley and completed postdoctoral fellowships at Yale and Princeton Universities. Prior to and since her appointment at Wesleyan, she has held visiting scholar and faculty positions at University College Dublin in Ireland, the Max Planck Institute in Cologne, Sciences Po in Paris, Freie University in Berlin, and the Asia School of Business in Kuala Lumpur.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Professor Kus&#8217;s research focuses on the interplay between the state, capitalism, and democracy.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">She is the author of<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/global.oup.com\/academic\/product\/disembedded-9780197764879?lang=en&amp;cc=us\"><em><strong><span style=\"color: #b50b0b\">Disembedded: Regulation, Crisis, and Democracy in the Age of Finance<\/span> <\/strong><\/em><\/a>(<span style=\"color: #000000\">Oxford University Press). Working backwards from the financial crisis, the book examines the evolution of the state\u2013finance relationship since the early 1970s and explores the links between major financial crises and subsequent political developments. Professor Kus is also the editor\/co-editor of three special issues: &#8220;<strong><span style=\"color: #b50b0b\"><a style=\"color: #b50b0b\" href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/toc\/17485991\/2025\/19\/2\">Greening the Economy: Toward a New Political Economy<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\u201d in <em>Regulation &amp; Governance<\/em>, &#8220;<span style=\"color: #b50b0b\"><a style=\"color: #b50b0b\" href=\"https:\/\/www.esr.ie\/issue\/view\/7\"><strong>Politics of Financialization<\/strong><\/a>&#8221; <\/span>\u00a0in <em>Economic and Social Review, <\/em>and &#8220;<span style=\"color: #b50b0b\"><strong><a style=\"color: #b50b0b\" href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/toc\/cosa\/54\/3\">Credit, Consumption, and Debt&#8221;<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in the<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0<em>International Journal of Comparative Sociology.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Professor Kus grew up in Turkey and completed her undergraduate studies at Bogazici University in Istanbul.
