Basak Kus is Associate Professor of Government at Wesleyan University. Her areas of scholarship and teaching include political sociology, political economy, and sociology of law. She is currently completing a book manuscript looking at the evolution of the state-economy relationship in the US as the backdrop to the financial crisis and the political developments that emerged in its aftermath.
Professor Kus completed her PhD in Sociology at UC-Berkeley, and her BA at Bogazici University in Istanbul. Before joining Wesleyan, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Yale and Princeton universities, and at University College Dublin in Ireland as a lecturer.
Having grown up in Turkey, she constantly misses the Mediterranean, but she is happy to have settled in New England.
